Fiume Crisis
City of Fiume became focal point of tension between Italy and Yugoslavia. Italian nationalist Gabriele D'Annunzio led a group of Italians to occupy Fiume, claiming it for Italy despite city's mxed ethnic population. Crisis was resolved after a year of occupation when Italian forces withdrew and Fiume was established as a free city under the League of Nations administration. -
Aaland Islands Dispute
Involves geopolitical tension between Finalnd and Sweden over the sovereignty of the Aaland. Historically, these sialnds have been inhabited by a Swedish speaking population despite being under Finland contorl. Issue resolved through League of Nations in 1921, granting islands autonomy within Finland, with their demiltarization ensured. -
Chanak Crisis
Turkey threatened to occupy city of Chanak in Turkey, which was under British protection. Britain, fearing escalation and seeking to maintain its strategic interest in the region, dispatched a naval force to the area. Crisis was resolved thrpugh diplomatic negotiation, wuth Britain agreeing to support Turey's posistion, leading to the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923. -
Genoa Conference
International diplomatic gathering aimed at adressing post-World War 1 economic and political challenges. Convened in Genoa, Italy and attended by major European powers to discuss issues such as war reparations, and economic reconstruction. Although conference failed to acheive significant breakthroughs due to differing national interests and ideological divisions, it laid the groundwork for future diplomatic initiatives and economic agreements. -

Lausanne Conference
Negotiate a comprehensive peace settlement between the Allied Powers and Turkey following World War 1 and the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. Conference resulted in the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne in July 1923, which recognized the Republic of Turkey as an independent and sovereign state. This treaty replaced earlier Treaty of Sevres, adressing various territorial and political issues in the region and establishing a foundation for peaceful relations in the aftermath of the war. -
Corfu Crisis
Italian forces bombarded and occupied the Greek island of Corfu in response to the murder of an Italian general on Greeke soil. Italy demanded compensation and apologies from Greece, which Greece refused to provide, leading to military action. Crisis was eventually resolved through diplomatic negotiations mediated by the League of Nations, with Greece agreeing to pay compensation, and Italian forces withdrawing from island. -
Dawes Plan
Adress economic instabilty in Germany following World War 1, Aime dto restucture Germany's reparatio payments reduce its financial burden, and stabilize its economy by coodinatig foreign loans and investments. Plan provided loans to Germany, which helped it stabilize its economy for a brief period until the onset of the Great Depression. -
Locarno Conference
Aimed to secure European peace following the devastation of War War 1. The principal accomplishment was the Locarno Treaties, signed by Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, and Great Britain which guaranteed the existing borders between Germany, France, and Belgium. The agreements were seen as a significant step towards stabilizing Europe, although they ultimately failed to prevent the outbreak of World War 2. -
Germany joins the League of Nations
Part of its efforts to reintegrate into the international community after the World War 1. Its amission was a significat diplomatic step, marking a move towards reconcilation and cooperation following aftermath of war. However, Germany's membership was short-lived as it withdrew from League in 1933 under leadership of Nazi regime. -
Kellogg-Briand Pact
Signed by 62 nations, including major powers of the time. Renounced war as a means of settling international disputes and aimed to prevent future conflicts by promoting peaceful diplomacy and arbitration. Although it lacked enforcement mechanisms, pact reflected a significant international effirt to promote disarmament and resolve conflicts through peaceful means.
