    As the Europeans sought to exploit the Natives, there was conflict over land and other resources. The French were interested in fur and traded with the Natives which led to competition between rival Natives.

    As the Europeans colonies grew crops, they needed people to work on these farms which resulted in the Atlantic slave trade. They bought slaves from Africa. In return they supplied them with weapons for war.
