    The Civil War split the United States between North and South. The North was fighting to keep the country united while the South was fighting to keep their way of life and to keep slavery. It began at Fort Sumter in South Carolina and ended at Appomattox Courthouse in Virginia

    John Wilkes Boothe assassinated Abraham Lincoln while he was at the Ford Theater in Washington, D.C.
