A slave from Richmond, Virginia planned to fight against Richmond for slavery rights. He gathered slaves to fight with him, they wanted to kidnap Governor James Monroe. Gabriel was not successful because his plan was ruined and he was later hung.

A group of U.S. Army and volunteers went out to sea with Captain Meriwether Lewis and Lieutenant William Clark commanding them. They went out to explore the newly Louisiana Purchase, crossing many different waters.

The Civil War is also one of the most important historical events. The Civil War started between Union (the North) and Confederacy (the South), they were fighting because the Confederacy wanted slavery to continue in the West but the Union wanted to end slavery. In 1860, Abraham Lincoln was elected president and opposed for slavery to continue in the West.
