About 20,000 hispanics marched down 24th street in Phoenix to protest the federal legislation that criminalized illegal immigrants. This march led to temporary business shut downs, traffic, and Arizona civilizan fights.

Voters endorse a ballot containing a few immigration issues; the requirement of out-of-state college tuition for students who were unable to prove citisenship, the denial of bail to illegal immigrants, and for the official state language to be noted as English.

Four lawsuits are filied against SB 1070 accussing the bill of being unconstitutional. Later these are dismissed.

Jan Brewer passes SB 2162 which makes changes to SB 1070. This clarifies certain aspects of the previous bill and addresses that racial profiling is illegal.

The U.S. Department of Justics files a lawsuit again SB 1070 and the outcome of this case is still not yet determined.

Govenor Jan Brewer files a countersuit against the U.S. Department of Justice accusing the federal government of not securing the border.
