    Many people working together and also alone were contributors to the evolution of television. It took many years to develop the form of electronic communication we call television. In 1900 was when the first known use of the word television was made. This was a significant event because television is a main aspect of communication today and was an important progression in the technological history.
  • Mass Productions e.g. Vehicles

    Mass Productions e.g. Vehicles
    Mass production is a system of manufacturing based on principles such as the use of interchangeable parts, large-scale production and the high-volume assembly line. Henry Ford designed his first moving assembly line in 1913 and revolutionised the manufacturing process of his Ford Model T. This is important because it has made it possible to produce goods at a low cost which also makes it possible for more people to be able to afford these goods.

    End of WWI
    October 17 was when the final push toward the German border began. The armies of Britain, France and America advanced and the Central Powers alliance began to deform. Turkey agreed to sign a peace agreement which urged Austria and Hungary to do the same. This was a significant event as it saw the end of the First World War.

    This was the peace settlement that was signed after the end of World War I and other events in Russia. It was signed in the Vast Versailles Palace near Paris between Germany and the allies. Hundreds of people were involved in the process and the final signing ceremony in the Hall Of Mirrors. This was an important event because it signified peace between countries.

    The Jazz Age emerged after World War One in the 1920’s involving music and dance. The era ended at the beginning of the great depression but was still apart of pop culture and is still used and celebrated today. African American’s are the main people responsible for it’s rise in popularity. This was important because it represented a vast cultural shift and started a new trend that has been developed and transformed over the years.

    On October 29 1929 the New York stock market suffered a huge crash. In the fall, it had been announced that after years of prices rising and falling, the stock prices had taken a big turn after being so high and plummeted. This created panic and worried many stock workers.

    This was a significant event because it led to the great depression.

    The great depression was a severe economic down turn caused by the stock market crash of 1929 and a drought. Unemployment in Australia more than doubled after the crash. Without work and steady income many Australians lost their homes and were forced to live with poor conditions. This was an important event because it had a huge impact on the lives of many Australians and Americans and made thee public aware of the unfortunate economic possibilities.

    The day of the anniversary for the First Fleet in Australia where some were celebrating and others were mourning. Many Aboriginal Australians waited until celebrations to pass before they could walk in silent protest from the Town Hall to the Australian Hall in Elizabeth Street. This was a significant event because the white settlers devastated the lives of all Indigenous inhabitants when Australia was first settled by white people.

    Germany attacked Poland on the 1st of September and other European countries felt as though they had to act. This resulted in six long years of a Second World War World War II was the bloodiest war with the most deaths and was also the largest war in history. This was a significant event as it brought an end to the great depression due to a demand on war recourses and also inventions of things such as jets engines which are still in use today.

    Japanese Attack of Pearl Harbor
    December 7 1941 was when the Japanese launched a surprise air attack on the U.S naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The Japanese were tired of negotiations with the United States about expansions that weren’t going their way. During the attack, over 2, 400 Americans were killed, 21 ships were sunken or damaged and more than 188 aircrafts were destroyed.
    This was a significant event because it introduced America into World War II as a result of going to war with Japan.

    Bombing of Darwin
    19th of February 1942 was when Japanese forces performed two air raid attacks on Darwin, Australia. Both attacks involved the use of 54 land base bombers and around 188 attack aircrafts. The attacks concluded after about 40 minutes. The second attack lasted for 20-25 minutes. The two raids resulted in 243 people dead and 300-400 badly wounded. This was an important event because it was the most dreadful emergency in history.

    Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima
    During World War II, August 6 1945 was when the United States dropped an atomic bomb filled with 20 000 tons of TNT on Hiroshima, Japan. It destroyed the city and killed thousands of civilians. Three days later after the bombing, the United States attacked once more on the city of Nagasaki. This was an important event because it marked the end of World War II.

    Declaration of Human Rights
    Adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations, the Universal Declaration was motivated by the experiences of the World Wars. This was the first time that countries agreed on a statement of undeniable human rights. The declaration includes around 30 articles stating civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights to people without discrimination. This was an important event as it was a step towards free development and peace internationally.

    The summer games of 1956 was the first time Australia had ever hosted the Olympic Games and the first time it had ever been held outside of the United States or Europe. The Australian team that competed remains one of the greatest collections of athletic talent to ever compete for Australia. This was an important event because the home advantage allowed us to make our debut into the Olympic Sports.

    This was a critical moment during the Cold War. An American spy plane had discovered that nuclear missiles were being built by the Soviet Union in Cuba. Leaders of both nations realised the possible devastating outcome of a nuclear war and publicly agreed to dismantle the nuclear missiles in agreement that America did not invade the Soviet Union. This was a significant event because it created peace between countries and prevented war.

    Matrin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have A Dream ..." speech
    On the 28th of August 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. performed a speech to a crowd of over 250 000 people on the steps of Lincoln Memorial. With millions watching him on T.V, he spoke about the Civil Rights Movement. This event was significant because it was an essential role in the fight for equality and freedom during the American Civil Rights Movement.

    Australian Freedom Rides
    February 1965 was when a group of university students in Sydney organised a bus tour through western and coastal cities of New South Wales. The purpose was to draw attention to the state of Aboriginal people’s health, education and housing. They hoped to resist discrimination between aboriginals and white residents. This was a significant event as it was the start to improving the lives of aboriginal people.

    A man named Martin Cooper and his co-workers used technology of the police radio and applied it to the technology of the day to create the world’s first working portable mobile phone. Although he did not make the first working mobile phone, he made the first portable mobile phone in which at the time was considered a revolutionary invention. This was a significant event in history as it allowed easier ways of communication between people.

    The release of Crocodile Dundee on April the 30th has proven itself to be one of the most remarkable films to have come from Australia. It is the only non-Hollywood film to have been the most successful film internationally in its year of release. This event was important because it was the first movie to ever become an international interest around the world and generated interest for people to visit Australia.

    The Berlin wall was the physical division between West Berlin and East Germany during the Cold War to stop the Germans from fleeing to the west. There was a change in the city’s relations which then allowed citizens to destroy the wall and celebrate their union. This was a significant event as it created a union between the cities and allowed them to form a country and become one.

    United Nations Conventionf of the Rights of the Child
    A human rights treaty with an objective to protect children against discrimination neglect and abuse. It applies to any child under the age of 18. The UN General Assembly opened it for signature on the 20th of November 1989 and came into force in 1990 on the 2nd of September. Currently, 194 countries are involved. This is a significant event as it has enforced the rights for children to feel safe whilst living under supervision.

    In 1991 a computer programmer in Switzerland named Tim Berners-Lee introduced what he discovered to be a world wide web of information that anyone on the internet could access. Before this, the internet was gradually progressing but Tim Berners-Lee was who introduced it as how we know it today. This was an important evens because the benefits the internet provides such as communication and research abilities has improved technology for our generation.
