    Colonist fought the French and Indian war for expansion. This caused the British to get a war debt.

    The King prohibited the Colonist from settling past the Appalachian mountains. This was issued to keep peace with the Indians.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The King put a tax on sugar because the colonist were smuggling sugar. Another reason they did this was because the Colonist weren’t paying the taxes.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Five ended up dead while many others were wounded. This was all caused by the Colonist and Redcoats having numerous fights with each other.
  • Tea Act

    The Tea Act of 1773 the Colonist were enraged at the King because he required them to buy from British owned East India Trading Companies. The colonist couldn’t get their preferred tea from these companies.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Colonist dumped tea into the Boston harbor while they were disguised as the Mohawk Indians. They chose to dump tea into the harbor because they wanted to protest over the tea tax.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable acts closed Boston Harbor, banned town meetings, and quartering of troops. These acts caused the colonist to work together to separate from the British Government.

    Colonist request to settle disagreements with the king. The king denies the settlement because he doesn’t trust the colonists.
