The U.S. used to be a part of the British empire. The U.S. broke off after the Revolutionary war. The British Empire let the U.S. go for economical reasons. If they held on, they would be using much more money on their colonies. So, to prevent the loss of a lot of money, they let them go -

The Triple Alliance consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and Italy. The Triple Alliance was created for Military/Political purposes. It was created to maintain peace throughout Europe. -
Triple entente: Supranationalism
The triple entente formed before WWI. It consisted of Great Britain, France, and Russia. The triple Entente would be considered a political/military supranational organization. The alliance was made to keep Germany from getting too powerful. -
OPEC(Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries): Supranationalism
OPEC consists of some of the most oil rich countries in the world. Most of the countries fall in the middle east and north Africa, but Venezuela is a part of OPEC too. OPEC is an Economical organization. They regulate the prices of most of the petroleum in the world. -
PLO(Palestinian Liberation Organization): Supranationalism
The PLO is only in the Palestinians regions; the Gaza Strip, Golan Heights, and West Bank. PLO is a Political/Military organization. It was created to try and make the creation of a Palestinian state. So far they've only gained autonomy. -
ICO(Islamic Conference Organization: Supranationalism
ICO consists of middle east, south asian, and North African countries. Obviously, all the countries mostly consist of muslims because it is an Islamic organization. ICO is a cultural organization. It was made to bring Islamic people and countries closer by coordinating social, economic, cultural, etc. activities. -
Devolution of Yugoslavia
Yugoslavia broke up because of political reasons. All the countries broke off so that they wouldn't fall under the trap of communism. So, all the countries were made by the different ethnic groups in Yugoslavia. The countries that came out were: the Federal Republics of Serbia and Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzogavina, Croatia, Macedonia, and Slovenia. Yugoslavia broke up in the 1990's -
Devolution of the Soviet Union
The Soviet Union ended up breaking up because of economical reasons. They put so much money into the military that everything else just collapsed. The Soviet Union went back to being called Russia. -
Canada(Devolution)
The Province of Quevec has wanted to become independent from Canada because of cultural reasons. In comparison, Quebec is mostly French and is the second most populated province. Quebec has not gained independence, but it has gained autonomy. -
The United Kingdom and Scotland(Devolution)
The attempted breakoff from the U.K(Scotland wanted to breakoff) was for economical reasons. They wanted to break off from the U.K. so that they would be worth more in the European. Since they have access to the oil in the North Sea, they would be worth way more if the broke off. In the end, Scotland only gained autonomy.
