Day one Blue Ash, Kentucky Master's Farm: The Escape
During the day Samuel broke a plate and Miz. Catheren was very mad. She threw a fork and it hit Samuel in the chin. When he went to bed he wasn't allowed to use any blankets, or eat any dinner that Lilly made. Thaty night Harrison was over the torture so he got Samuel and told him to get a few things from the kitchen. Then they set off. Harrison was smart enough to take onions so they wouldn't get caught. -

Day 2 in a Tree Near the Farm: They Get Caught
In the tree Harrison and Samuel climb up to a high branch and sat there until the next morning. When Master Hackler woke up he found out that Samuel and Harrison were missing. He got on a horse with Lilly and set out to find them. When he go to the tree Master Haclker found them but let them be to see it they will come back. Just as Master Hackler could do anything it started to rain. The rain was the sasvior of Samuel and Harriosn. -
Day 3 the River Jordan: River Man
Once night came Harrison and Samuel started again. After a little walking they made it to the River Jordan. Once there they met a man The River Man. The River Man took them onto his boat and they heard a woman screaming. Once they found the woman the River Man took her on-board. Her name was Hetty Scott, she had a-lot of clothing and wouldn't leave it behind. At the other side of the river as Harrison, Samuel, and River Man got off but Hetty Scott wouldn't so the River Man pushed her away. -
Day 4 and 5: Widow Taylor's Cellar
The River Man showed Harrison and Samuel to the next stop. He took the tow sack from Harrison. The only thing that they were allowed to keep was the grey yarn. As they got to the celler they saw the many barrels of food so they started to eat right away. Once they were finnished eating Samuel asked what the grey yarn ment to him. There he found out it was his mothers. They stayed there that night and the next morning the Widow Taylor came down and told them to get up to go to the next stop. -
Day 5: The Church
When they got to the next stop they had to go in the side door, because white folks were in the church singing. Once they left Samuel and Harrison came out of hiding and when they did they did there was two people named Mr. Keepheart and Reverend Pry. Reverend Pry wanted to get a things written on a paper about Samuel and Harrison to tell the congergation. Harrison ripped up the paper once they left, because he didn't want anybody knowing about him. They slept there that night. -
Day 6: Ham, Eggs, Miz. Kettle, and the Girly Adventure
The next morning there was a woman there to take them to the next stop, but before they left they had to change clothes. The clothes they had to wear were girl clothes and clothes to cover their face. Than Miz Kettle took them to Ham. He gave them fishing gear so they would look like freed blacks. As they were walking white people came by on horses and stole the fish they. Then about five minuets later they came to the next stop and went in the house and waited for the man to come back. -
Day 7 : Fever and Peddlers House
Once the man came back he asked who they were, and they said Samuel and Harrison. The man's name was Green Murdock. He gave them food and once they ate it Green Murdock asked them if they wanted their cards read. They said no but he was doing it anyway. There was an ace of clubs and that is a bad card so he didn't tell them what it ment. The next morning Harrison woke up with a horrible fever and they had to get to the next stop eventhough Harrison was in horrible condition. -

Day 7-11 Lung fever
Here is where Harrison and Samuel stayed when Harrison had the lung fever. The people they met there is Bell and August. They helped Samuel and Harrison for almost a week until they thought Harrison was a gonner. That night when he was feeling better they were put on a train {this was the first time they saw a train and they were wonder struck} to get to "Canaday." They thanked them for all their help and were on their way. -
Day 13: The Train and Ordee Lee
They were instructed on how to get to the train and when they got there they had to hide so they wouldn't get caught. Once they were on the train they found a hidding spot and waited for the door to close before they came out. Once the door was shut they came out of hidding and called out to see if anyone else was in the car. There was his name was Ordee Lee. He has been on many of the cars and none of them led to Canada. He has lost all of his family and was hoping to get to freedom. -
Day 14: Flour Barrels and the Ride to Freedom
The train stopped and a man oppened the door and called out to see if anyone was there. He put them in a shed and told them to stay there till dusk. When it was almost dusk they took the flour barrels and were pushng them to the dock to put them on the "Otter". As soon as tehy got to the edge of the dock they got stopped and were asked if they had their free papers. They were scared untill the leader came and took the paper with Ordee Lee's family stuff on it and let them go. They were free!
