  • Triffids begin to appear world-wide

  • Bill stung by a triffid as a child

  • Bill blinded temporarily by a triffid sting

    Bill survives, but has to stay at a hospital for a while. It is during this period that the "comet" passes by.

  • Night of the comet; leaving viewers blinded

  • Day after the comet; Bill wakes up in the hospital.

    Almost everyone else is blind and helpless. Later that day, Bill meets/ teams up with Josella and that night they see a light from another building.

  • The University; Bill and Josella go to the university, the source of the light.

    There, they become part of the colonels "group". For most of the day, they go around picking up what can be salvaged. Later that day, they go to a meeting to discuss a plan of action for the future.

  • Bill and other sighted people captured by Coker's gang. Bill finds himself alone in a room.

  • Bill assigned a party to care for; he moves them to Swiss Cottage

  • Some of Bill's party begins falling ill.

    By the next day, everyone has either succumbed to the illness or fled to try to survive on their own.

  • Bill meets Coker; over the next several days they work together to find Josella

    Together, they tavel to Tynsham and Beaminster. Later, they also begin helicopter searches.

  • Bill leaves Beaminster group; finds a young girl named Susan

  • Bill and Susan continue to Sussux; find Josella late that evening

  • Bill and Josella's first child David born

  • Beadley's group moves to the Isle of Wight

  • Ivan Simpson finds Coker

  • Bill and Josella meet Ivan Simpson; he tells them about the Isle of Wight

  • Late that night, Bill and his group leave to join others at the Isle of Wight
