The sound of crushing wood was the "Endurance" crashing into the ice and in minutes the ship was covered. -
Trouble withBoats
The men pulled 2,000 pound loads with harnesess strapped like dogs or horses.Then Tom stopswhen he sees a giant head pop out of the water and luckily Frankie comes over and shoots the sealion with three rifles. -
Traveling to Elephant Island
Shack wants to get to Elephant Island first before his crew and him get to South Georgia Island. They stopped at a floe for the night. A big wave splashed and an ice floe started cracking into two parts and it was headed right toward tent #4. Then, there was a sleeping bag in the water and Ernie Holness was inside. Shack finally jerked Ernie out of the water in time. -
Open Water
Finally , they reached open water. They were very thristy because the salt water had spoiled all the fresh water.They had to suck on frozen seal meat to quench their thirst. Also they could hardly swallow. -
Barren Land
Shack calls to Frank that he sees land.Elephant Island was barren with 3,500 foot peaks. -
South Georgia Island
Shack decides to take the best five men on the 800 mile journey to South Georgia Island. The men were Frank, Tom, Chippie, Tim, John, and Shack. The rest stay behind on Elephant Island with the two other boats as huts to live in. -
Graybeard
The men are worried about Graybeards on open water . Then , Shack notices a Graybeard ! With jagged rocks that Chippy had brang to keep the ship from sinking saved the day. -
Land Ho
Young McCarthy shouted Land Ho! They were on the other side of the whaling station. Tt was too hard to get to the other side. Tim said that he would stay with John and chippy to take care of them because they were sick. -
Three Men
The three men were Shack , Tom , and Skipper Worsley who traveled on ice to get to the Whaling Station . Eventually , the men had to go down a 1 , 500 foot waterfall in one big slide . At last they reached the Whaling Station . -
Old Friends
When they get to the Whaling Station they meet Sorelle' which happens to be Shack ' s old friend. Then , the men prepare a journey back to Elephant Island to pick up the men . In the end no life was lost !
