Thomas Jefferson was one of the main authors of the document which gave us freedom from the Great Britain.
This is important to the US because without it, we wouldnt have freedom. If the document was never created, we could still be under the power of Britain. -
Civil War 1861-1865
The Civil war was a war between the states in the US. It lasted for four years and many people got killed. It was when USA got freedom.
This was important to the USA because over 600,000 soldiers died and the freeing of slaves began. Now there is more freedom for the USA. -
World War 2
World war 2 was a global war. It was the most widespread war in history, with over 100 million people from 30 different countries. World war 2 becan when Germany invaded Poland.
This is important to our history because and lot of soldiers and loving members of different families lost their lives fighting for our country. It also showed how powerful countries were like the US when they dropped atomic bombs in Japan and they surrendred. Now we have power and freedom. -
Martin Luther King "I Have a Dream" speech
Martin Luther King gave a speech in Washington D.C about African American people having equal rights as white people and freeing slaves.
This is important to the US history because now African Americans have equal rights as white people. Back then, African American people didn't have as much freedom and white people, like they couldn't go to school, public bathrooms, or they would have separate places for them , away from the white people. Now they have freedom and same rights as everyone else. -
9/11
Terrorists from Islamic attacked the World Trade Center in New York City. Within two hours, the towers collapsed causing fire and destruction.
This is very important to the Us history because the World Trade Center was an important part of New York. Many people died and bunch of people were injured. This event chnaged the way we have security. At airports especially, security became much more thighter and now we have to take our shoes off and everything. It is more safe now than back then.
