Civil War
The Civil War was the most important war in American History because it was America's only Civil War and many of the current problems during that time were fixed. The biggest contreversal problem that was resolved was to abolish slavery. When the north won and they abolished slavery we were one step closer to all men being equal. The ammount of men lost in the war was devestating and made it very hard to live in America for years to come. -
World War 1
World War 1 was the very first time the United States needed to use a draft to get soldiers. Many men would leave their homes and never return. The cause of the war started when Austria's Francis Ferdinand was assainated by Serbia and both countries had secret treatys from other countries to help them if they started war. So eventuall several countries were fighting each other until June 28th 1919 when a treaty was signed -
Great Depression
I chose The Great Depression because it was the worst economic crash in U.S. history. It crashed because the stock market lended out stocks and let the people pay for them later, eventually the stock market crashed the banks lost peoples money and the unemployment rate sky rocketed to 25%.Eventually people started to stop using banks and hiding the money in there houses. Ofically it was the hardest time to live in America. -
World War II
I chose WWII becuase it was a massacre of a war and could have gone differently if the United States had gotten involved sooner. Again we a draft taking men from their homes and putting them on a battlefield. When the war ended people in America saw what had happened in Germany and gave us a good perspective to watch what we do here so something similar dosent happen in the U.S. -
Civil Rights Movement
i chose the Civil Rights Movement because it was a very inspiring time for minorites in America.They took a stand against segregation and stood together in protest for their equal rights. What really made the Civil Rights Movement remarkable is how all the African Americans kept their composure even when being attacked and killed. What happened in our country showed that all men can be equal and inspired many people in other countries to do the same. -
Vietnam War
I chise the Vietnam War because of all of the brave men who were forced into the war through the draft and died for thier country. The Vietnamese had great military tactics in their surroundings and served a great part against our troops in the war.In the end we did come out on top and proved that no matter what they threw at us we would win -
Invention of the Personal Computer
The PC is one of the greatest invention that has benefited us today. It serves as a new way to communicate and find out news faster in other parts of the country. The landing of Neil Armstrong on the moon was a critical event for the future of our space program.When we were the first to reach the milestone NASA gained alot of public attention which is what they needed to be successful in further research. The cell phone holds the biggest use in many different catagories in todays world. I think the biggest purpose that it provides is saftey if you get lost or someone is tring to break into your house you can call the cops, they can track your phone and find you. The boming on 9-11 changed the United States forever in a matter of munutes. It was the first time that we have witnessed a major terrorist attack on our country and it killed many people and hurt many families. We responded to the attack by declaring war on Alcida and making new security advancements
