The National Assembly was created by the people of the Third Estate. Many of whom had been influenced by Enlightenment ideas. They were created from a idea pitched by Sieyès. I believe this to be an important event as this is when the oppressed people of the Third Estate first completely banded together with the intention of freeing themselves from noblemen and women's control.

Due to king Louis and his wife Marie Antoinette's bad spending choices France was thrown into economic turmoil. This led to massive increases in the prices of things such as bread. This led many women to take weapons and force the king and queen out of their palace and back to Paris. This event is significant to the French Revolution as it is the first significant action that the poor have taken against the king and queen in order to achieve a better life for themselves.

The National Assembly used the opportunity granted from the king being forced out his position allowed them to enact new laws. These laws were heavily influenced by enlightenment ideas and gave people basic rights. They took control of the church also used the it's land to deal with France's large debt. This is a important event as the National Assembly is using their power to fulfil the people's wants and solving the problems that the previous government left behind.
-
Within the National Assembly 3 factions form that all represent different ideas. They were formed as a result of the question of how to handle the problems left behind. 1 side wanted completely change the government, 1 side wanted some changes, and 1 side wanted as few as possible. In addition outside of the assembly nobles were attempting to undo the revolution. This is important to the revolution as it describes the slight inner turmoil among the newly formed and in power National Assembly.

During the summer of 1792 Paris was invaded by Prussian forces and threated the revolutionaries that if they attacked the royal family Paris would be destroyed. This led Parisians into attacking the palace where the royal family was staying and capturing them which eventually led many fearful citizens to attack a multitude of prisons hoping to keep the king out of power. These events led to the Legislative Assembly setting aside the constitution in order to make France a republic.
-
Coming off France's change to a republic a Jacobin leader named Robespierre soon began gaining power and attention as he setout to build a "republic of virtue" he did this by attempting to wipe away France's past. He used executed many people who he deemed "enemies" and used that terror to keep citizens focused on the revolution. All kinds of people were killed from famous and wealth to the poor; They even killed fellow radicals because they simple weren't radical enough.

Napoleon used his status as a hero to the French people and revolution to take over France as a dictator. He used that momentum to establish limit the French people's freedom, establish a strong economy, and crown himself emperor. With his new power he began looking at potential opportunities to take and after failing in the new world he was forced to combat other European powers and won. This is important to the French Revolution because Napoleon's first years gave France a time of prosperity.
-
In Napoleon's battles he made 3 mistakes which cost him his army. This weakness allowed the other European powers to defeat him and his new army as he eventually surrendered allowing King Louis' brother to come and take the throne. But he was soon taken out as Napoleon returned for the throne only to be defeated not long and exiled again. Napoleon's defeat is a vital part of the French revolution as they now have an opportunity to use the good Napoleon brought to achieve their goals and ideals.
-
Metternich disliked the French Revolution's democratic ideas and wanted to keep things as they were before. He did this by establishing a balance of power, strengthening nearby countries, restore royal families. His actions led to a stable political balance in the continent. Metternich's control of France proves important to the Revolution as it shows France recovering after Napoleon nearly lead it back into the ground again.
-
Many rulers were worried about the legacy France had created as it could incite small revolutions in Europe which would threaten them. Due to Napoleon's actions in Spain creoles were able to seize control of American colonies which eventually lead to a Mexican revolt against Spain. Due to the French Revolution nationalism had also spread to more countries in Europe which caused more revolutions. The aftereffects of the French Revolution are important as they show what kind of effect it had.
