  • Start of the American Revolutionary War

    Start of the American Revolutionary War
    The Battle of Lexington sparks the start of the American Revolutionary War against England for the Independence, it is won and ends in 1783.
  • The Traveler

    Adams sails for France with his father, the emissary of Congress seeking French financial aid for the Revolutionary War. “You’re embarking under very threatening signs. The heavens frown, the clouds roll, the winds howl, the waves of the sear roar upon the beach” (Unger, 5).

    Constitutional convention went from May to September and it was finally signed and put into place.

    The French Revolution begins with the storming of the Bastille.
  • Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette executed

    The Reign of Terror begins in France. Eli Whitney also invents the cotton gin in this year which helped the growth of the cotton industry and helped institutionalize slavery in the south.

    Adams elected second president of the U.S; appointed minister to Prussia.

    Adams was elected to the senate after working as Minister to the Netherlands

    This is an international event because the U.S negotiates it from France for $15 million, and the U.S doubles its territory

    England attacked the colonies mostly to reclaim its North American territory. Colonies defeat Great Britain.
  • Treaty of Ghent

    Adams was the chief negotiator for the Treat of Ghent, which ended the war of 1812.
  • The C&O Canal

    Adams wanted to bring all sections of America together, so he worked to build canals that connected different sections. The first one was the C&O Canal. Also loses the presidential election to Jackson.
  • JQA Dies

    Adams dies in 1848 after a stroke, was buried back in Quincy Massachusetts. “This is the end of earth, but I am composed,” John Quincy Whispered, then lapsed into a coma for three days until he dies (Unger, 310).
