    In New England mass of Puritans arrived. They migrated in 1630; on a ship called the Mayflower. It held 101 passengers. The Puritans made a settlement known as Plymouth. This was the start of their new life style.

    The History of the Dividing line was written by William Byrd in 1728. He appreciated the American wilderness and was greatly influenced. He began thinking about the world and science. He was part of the early enlightenment thinkers. He thought about the "whats ifs?" and "how comes?"

    Johnathan Edwards gave a very detailed sermon. It was called, "Sinners in the hands of an Angry God." Johnathan Edwards used a different tatic then most others. He would use horrifing thoughts and imagery to show the people what it was to be a sinner and not follow God. The People were very religious and had strong beliefs about God. By doing this he converted many people and they became followers of God.

    Americans adopted the Declaration of Independence on this date. This freed the United States from England. Our country gained independence. If it wasn't for the second continental congress we would still be under England's control. We celebrate this date as a holiday and rejoice being free.
