  • Period: 2100 BCE to 1600 BCE

    Xia Dynasty

    The first hereditary dynasty of China.
  • Period: 1046 BCE to 256 BCE

    Zhou Dynasty

    The longest dynasty in Chinese history. It is the creator of the word "Huaxia" and it was the initial meaning of Huaxia.
  • Period: 3 BCE to 460

    Xiongnu/Hun

    Xiongnu was the name of the nomad people who lived around Mongolian Plateau and they called themselves Hu(Hun). Huns were important for Huaxia because numerous of wars and culture exchange connect Huaxia and Xiongnu.

    Fan

    In 67AD, Buddhism entered Eastern Han. "Fan" appeared because all of the Buddhist texts were written in Sanskrit, which has the same pronunciation as Fan in Chinese. Buddhism make lots of effects during Sui Dynasty and Tang Dynasty.

    Han

    In Northern Wei, it was the first time that "Han" was used as the sign or label of the people who lived in the central state. After that, most names of the things which related to Hanzu would have a prefixion "Han", like Hanzi and Hanyu.

    China

    "China" is how we call China nowadays. There're quantities of theories about when and where "China" became the name of China. One of them said that "China" comes from Sanskrit “Chini” around Sui Dynasty.

    Tang Dynasty was the greatest time in​ Chinese history.

    Ming Dynasty was the last absolutism centralized state which founded by Han nation people.
