    Age of Exploration

    Age of Exploration
    Europe’s economy suffers from disease, famine, and ring around the rosey. Black Death was a disease that was carried on ship by rats transmitted by rats. Families in Europe grew wealthier and began establishing banks. It encouraged exploration of the seas. Traders traveled throughout overland routes and goods were passed throughout many merchants and the price would increase every time. Portuguese established trading posts and eventually started trading slaves.

  • Jamestown was established

    Jamestown was established
    April 26, 1607 the first 3 ships sent by the London Company arrived at the Virginia. The colonist established their first settlement which was named Jamestown. Smith takes control but some people loved him and others despised him. Smith returned home and decided to starve colonist instead of attacking and losing his men. Colonists sail away but had to return back before it could be abandoned and new settlers had come. Smith set up by the London Company in 1618. You would get 50 acres and 50 more
  • Louisiana Purchase

    Jefferson is the first non federalists president and believes in a small government with a vast majority of the power going to the states he didn’t give speeches he would write them, then send them. The louisiana territory was a good price and it helped us gain more control and land. Southern and western boundaries with spanish, texas, and new mexico were not fully defined. Jefferson was a Democratic-Republican and wanted a small nation but the Federalists wanted a large nation.

    After the confederate win in 1863 confederate General Robert E. Lee decided to invade the North for a 2nd time and headed to Pennsylvania. He figured he could win the battle, and create peace with North (Union) Lee’s army began to head north on June 10th. Confederates pushed Union south and failed to break Union line and Lee charged at the Union center line and retreated the next day the Union had a major victory.

  • Plessy vs. Ferguson

    Plessy vs. Ferguson
    In 1892 Homer Plessy was jailed for sitting in the white section of the East Louisiana Railroad then Louisiana offered the separate car act. Plessy decision set the precedent that separate facilities for blacks and whites were constitutional as long as they were equal.
  • D Day Evasion

    D Day Evasion
    The Battle of Normandy Allied liberation of Western Europe from Nazi Germany’s control. D-Day began on June 6, 1944 and 156,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five different beaches along a 50-mile stretch on the coast of France’s Normandy region. August 1944, northern France had been liberated and by spring the Allies have defeated the Germans. The D-Day was delayed 24 hours from bad weather.
