  • NC State Date Founded

    The University of NC State was founded way before there were any major changes to education for students with disabilities. This is hard for me to think about! Almost 100 years later is when there were some big changes!
  • Monet's Death

    Monet is one of my favorite artists. This was the day that he passed away. This is before there were really any major changes to education for students with disabilities.
  • Public Law 86-158

    This Act was one that helped train teachers and leaders to be able to properly educate children with disabilities. The Act was called The Training of Professional Personal Act of 1959.
  • Public Law 87-276

    This Act was one which says that training is to be provided for instructional personnel for children who are deaf or hard of hearing. This Act was called the Teachers of the Deaf Act of 1961.
  • Public Law 89-313

    This Act provided states with direct grant assistance for helping educate children with disabilities. This Act was called the State Schools Act.
  • Public Law 92-424

    This Act increased Head Start programs for young children with disabilities. This Act was called the Economic Opportunities Amendments of 1972.
  • Public Law 94-142

    This Act guaranteed a free appropriate public education to all children with disabilities in every part of the country. The law also authorized financial incentives to enable states to comply with the Act. The Act was called the Education for All Handicapped Children Act.
  • Public Law 110-476

    This Act was a reauthorization of Public Law 94-142. This Law changed the name from EHA to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This Law also added new categories to the list of disabilities such as, autism and traumatic brain injury.
  • Public Law 105-17

    This Act reauthorized a new challenge for improving results for children with disabilities and their families. This Act also had an emphasis on general education curriculum for students with disabilities.
  • I was born!

    This is my birthday! I was born in Dallas, TX.
  • 2004 Reauthorization

    In 2004, IDEA was realigned with the No Child Left Behind Act. Their main focus was to help give early intervention services for children, increase accountability, and to raise the standards for instructors who teach special education classes.
  • First time playing sports

    I played "competitive" softball for the first time. My dad was the coach.
  • Ariana Grande's First Album

    This was the date that Ariana Grande dropped her first album. She is one of my favorite artists!
