Hundreds of thousands of these "books" have been produced over hundreds of years as new words were introduced to the English language. However, there was one problem or rather thing as soon as the 21st century arrived. The internet. Nowadays you can literally just search up a word rather than trying to find it in a clunky, over sized and obsolete "book".
  • Telephone Directory aka Phone Book

    Telephone Directory aka Phone Book
These clunky and confusing books were used to search one person's phone number out of probably a million people all in one book. That's obviously extremely inefficient and with internet you're able to search up their phone number.
  • Rotary Phone

    Rotary Phone
These things are only collected rather than used nowadays. Most if not all phones are wireless now. New phones are also portable and easy to use. The only good thing about this 100 year old design is the fact that it looks "fancy".
  • Boombox

    Boombox
While these over sized radios may have looked cool back in the 80s nowadays these things are just inconvenient and clunky. This is especially because they only play cassette tapes. Even the outdated Walkman surpasses this.
  • VHS Tapes

    VHS Tapes
These things were every where back in the old days. They're still around in used item stores (ie; Value Village), however, ever since CDs were invented these things became obsolete due to CDs having much more storage in a a smaller package.
  • Switch Box Adaptor

    Switch Box Adaptor
These things were mainly used for video game consoles back in the day. They were basically primitive HDMI "cables", you had to screw these into the TV and would often break. It's no wonder that these were forgotten.
  • Walkman

    Walkman
These things replaced the Mikiphone in the very late 70s and were a huge deal and was one of the most products ever invented in Japan. However, not even these could stand the test of time and were eventually replaced by Ipods (or similar products). With Ipods you could download songs from the internet (which has an almost infinite amount of songs) while the Walkman required a tape (which only had about 5 songs on one tape).
  • CDs

    CDs
Although still present today these things have been slowly losing popularity as of the last 10 years when online streaming services were invented.
  • Macintosh

    Macintosh
This was one of Apple's very first computers, obviously this is very outdated if Apple is still releasing computers today (34 years later). The latest apple computers are faster, stronger, use CDs, etc. Nowadays these computers are mainly just novelties and are what people think of when they think of the 80s.
  • Memory Sticks

    Memory Sticks
As of the last 10 years these things were very prominent and are still fairly prominent today, however, ever since Cloud was invented these things have been slowly becoming obsolete. The Cloud is even more cost effective as well as having even more storage.
