    Clare and Henry meet in a meadow, where he is just watching her. She is too young to believe that what Henry is saying about him and her being together in the future.
  • Clare and Henry meet for the Second Time (Clare is 6; Henry is 35)

    Henry proves to Clare that he can time travel. He surprises her with showing her that he disappears .
  • The Ouija Board (Clare is 11)

    Clare is playing with an ouija board with her friends. They ask the question of "Who is Clare going to marry?" and the board spells out the name Henry. Clare is stunned.
  • Clare sees her father & brother in hunting clothes, in the meadow. Henry is there. (Clare is 13; Henry is 43)

    Clare doesn't realize this at the time but this is when Henry dies in the future. He gets shot by her father and brother in hunting season.

    Jason was a bully who began to call Clare a lesbian because she wouldn't go on a date with him. Henry and Clare duct-taped him to a tree and stripped him naked. Henry was uncomfortable at first, but then he started to enjoy it and Clare noticed and became uneasy.

  • Henry meets Clare (Clare is 20; Henry is 28)

    Clare runs into Henry in the library that he works at for the first time in two years. She tells him all about what's going to happen with them. This is Henry in current time and he has no idea who Clare is. He believes her and he thinks she has no reason to lie.

    Clare goes to Henry's house and sees a woman's things in his bathroom. She realizes that Henry has been seeing someone. Henry realizes that Clare has seen the previous woman's things and quickly apologizes, "I didn't know you were coming or I'd have cleaned up a little more. My life, I mean, not just the apartment." (Pg. 19)
  • Henry and Clare get married (Clare is 22: Henry is 30)

    Clare and Henry have a beautiful wedding and they share their first dance together. Henry time travels for only about eight minutes during the wedding and Clare is horrified but keeps her calm. Henry feels upset that he has upset Clare.
  • Alba is born (Clare is 30; Henry is 38)

    Henry and Clare's daughter is born after six miscarriages. A few months before Clare told Henry that "I quit" and future Henry responded with, "hang in there. In my present we have a baby." (Pg. 363) That gave hope to Clare to have a baby and continue to try. When their baby is born they named her Alba.
  • Henry dies (Clare is 35; Henry is 43)

    Henry comes back from the past and he was shot in the stomach. Everyone at Clare and Henry's New Years party is in shock. They try to help him and they end up failing. Henry dies.
  • Henry travels forward and meets Alba (Clare is 40; Henry is 38)

    The Reunion of the family occurs after Henry's death. Clare and Alba want to hold on to Henry, but they know he has to go back to his present. Clare watches him disappear in sadness.
