It said that 3 years before Thorvald sailed across the Atlantic, his older brother Leif Erikson explored the coast of North America from Newfoundland to Massachusetts.
-
Thorvald Erikson sailed West across America from Greenland with a crew of 30 men.
-
Thorvald Erikson retraced his brothers rout on the coast of the Atlantic. During the winter he stayed in Cape Cod.
-
In the summer of 1007 Thorvald headed back to the North.
-
On the way back to the North they stumbled upon a beautiful island that looked like mountains rising directly from the sea. They sailed into a fjord there, then Thorvald decided to settle there with his men. The island was so called Desert Island.
-
The Native Americans did not want these intruders on their land, and decided to attack. They ended up killing most of them, including Thorvald Erikson.
-
After the attack the survivors return to Greenland with tales of a rich land with tall trees, sandy beaches, and hostile people.
