    During the time of the 1990's companies like Nike and GAP faced issues with them producing goods. They were found to have there goods being made in sweatshops and the workers being forced to work in though conditions. "Kathie Lee Gilford was shocked to find out that her clothing line was being manufactured or at least in part being made in sweatshops and being made by under age workers." (Oliver).

    Scandals like the GAP scandals continued to happen on the date of August, 9th 1995 news surfaced that GAP had 15 year old girls working 18 hours a day. GAP claimed they had no idea and decided to create a staff that monitored the factories and who they employed. Shortly after the incident GAP launched a ad campaign to "brush the news under the carpet."

    In 2010 a fire broke out in a factory in Bangladesh that produced GAP products killing 29 workers. After that GAP made a building and fire safety plan for their factories but just a year later a factory was found to not have any fire extinguishers.
