Japan seizes the island of Nauru in January 1942 and at this point in April Louie and the superman are ordered to bomb the phosphate industries on the island. The superman then gets involved into an intense dogfight with the Japanese zeros while attempting to bomb the phosphate works. 594 holes are shot in the plane. One dies, and others injured unable to return.

Louie, Phill, and other superman veterans are transferred to the 42nd squadron of the 11th bomb group and the new crew flew the "Green Hornet" which had been run down and Louie refers to it as "the craziest plane ever" and wishes to never fly it again

Louie wakes up at 5 a.m. To start his morning off with a 4:12 minute mile run. "He was in the best shape of his life" and Louie runs in order or remind him of something he used to love to do and keep his mind off the misery in time of war

The green hornet and it's crew members are finally declared missing at 4:30 a.m.

Tribute to all crashed WW2 aircrafts. The green hornet plummets into the ocean and blows into pieces with the result of only Phil, Louie, and Mac surviving. Louie at one point is stuck in the cords of the plane underwater but finally manages to surface upward. The three men pile in one six foot raft in order to remain alive. They are cramped in but manage to make it work for about 46 days.

Louie shoots a flare fun up into the sky when the B-24 "daisy Mae" is traveling up ahead in the clouded skies and the three men are gone unnoticed. This angers Louie but he eventually cools down and understands why it could have been hard to see them

A second plane flies over them and Louie fires a flare once again and the plane approaches them only for the men to soon find out it a Japanese bomber plane that starts firing at then and they are forced to go into the water and hide under the raft for protection

On the 46th day, they finally see am island up ahead, but soon enough a Japanese boat comes alongside them and takes them on board. Surprisingly Louie and phill are offered cigarettes, a cup of water, and one biscuit each.

Louie and phill are taken and housed separately on a freighter. As the freighter approaches Kwajalein the Japanese start to become harsher. 42 days after being on execution island, Louie and Phill are stripped naked and splashed with water, and the are allowed to put their clothes on and take to a ship that will take them to Yokohama Japan to a POW camp

Louise friend phill is transferred to a new camp in Ashio, a POW camp called Zentsuji to be the best and associated with the Red Cross. Phill also writes a letter home but someone burns it as opposed to delivering it.

Louie, and his new prison friends Harris and tinker want to attempt to escape but Harris has a disease called beriberi and Louie is doing chords around camp like shaving guards or starching shirts. They are also starved and beaten severely

Louie packs up his belongings and caught a ride to his new Kualoa digs, which is a private cottage 30 feet from the ocean.

Louie and others are transferred to a different camp called Omori. When they arrive they are immediately greeted by Watanabe, meaning they are beaten to a pulp.

Japan has finally agreed to surrender and Louie is finally able to return home after two and a half years. Three days later (September, 5th) a train coke a to take the POW's away.
