52 year old Khalid Masood ran into civilians on Westminster Bridge, killing three and causing numerous injuries before crashing his car into the Westminster Palace gates. The attacker then fled the vehicle and attempted to gain access to the Palace of Westminster, fatally stabbing a police officer before being shot dead by a plain clothes police officer. In total there were 40 injuries reported.
