After trying to steal the one ring from Frodo the followership is attacked by orcs and Boromirs dies trying to protect Merry and Piipen

They do this without rest for several days and they also meet Eomer, the nephew of the king of Rohan.

The hobbits were not killed as they ran into Fangorn Forest where they met Gandalf the White. Merry and Pippen then go with Treebeard, an Ent.

The Ents are mad over the fact that Saruman is cutting down the forest to fuel the fires for the Orc's furnace for their weapons

The trio learns that Merry and Pipen are safe and they find out that Theoden, the king of Rohan, is under a spell, and being controlled by Grima Wormtongue.

Grima is thrown out of Edoras and Theoden tells him if he comes he will be killed

The trio goes with Theoden and his people to Hornburg, a massive fortress. Gandalf goes north in search of Erkenbrand to bring reinforcements.

The Orcs outnumber the people of Rohan but the people do their best and keep at bay until dawn when Gandalf arrived with reinforcements.

They reunited with Merry and Pippin and find out that Isengard has been flooded and overran by Ents

Gandalf believes Sauron will come after Pippen now so he leaves with him to Minas Tirith.

Gandolf gives Saruman the option to repent his actions but he refuses. Gandolf throws him out of the order of the wizards and banishes him. Wormtongue throws a palantiri, a glass orb used by Saruman to contact Sauron.

Sam does not like or trust Gollum at all, but Gollum receives pity for Frodo. Gollum promises to led them to a secret entrance into Mordor.

They are capture by Faramir, Boromir's brother. Frodo tells him that Boromir is dead and they are on their way to destory the ring.

He leads them to Shelob, a giant spider women, and attacks Frodo. Sam decides to take on the quest by himself.

Sam hides and overhears that Frodo is not dead just unconscious.
