    England first come to Ireland

    England completely take over Ireland

  • massacre of drogheda. an English army led by Oliver cromwell, slaughters many catholics for supposedly killing many protestants.

    laws are introduced that take away most basic rights of the catholics.

    British evict 1000s of Irish farmers from their homes and sell it to the British. 1.5 million Irish people die.

    Potato famine. roughly 1 million irish die. anger towards british increased.

  • Ulster volunteer force (UVF) are formed. made up of protestants hellbent on maintaining british rule.

    Easter rising. The Irish attack the vulnerable british because of ww1. 400 deaths and 2500 injuries. from this the IRA is formed.

  • Ireland granted independence.

  • IRA split. into the provisional IRA and the official IRA

  • Mcgurks bar bombing. 15 catholics die.

  • Bloody Sunday. protest against british rule gets violent, 13 dead and 14 injured.

  • Dublin and Monaghan bombings. IRA lets off 4 bombs in Dublin and Monaghan kills 33 civilians.

  • birmingham pub bombings. kills 25 civilians and injured 186.

  • IRA bomb the La Mon restaurant. 11 civilians dead.

  • IRA bomb another bar, 11 soldiers and 6 civilians dead.

  • provisional IRA drops a massive bomb on a laboratory. destroys the lab and 7 houses.

  • the provisional IRA annouce a ceasefire.

  • the provisional IRA ends the ceasefire by bombing the london docklands.

    dumcree conflict. severe rioting causes 116 injuries.

  • good friday agreement. considered by many to be the end of the troubles.

  • Omagh bombing. the official IRA are responsible, killed 29 civilians, injures 220
