    During the mid 1930's the Ford sub-brand Mercury began with an affordable line of luxury vehicles. (for the time.) At a starting price of $916 (approximately $15,583 in current dollars), and stocked with the newly released V8 Engine line, this was a car wanted by many.

    Hershey Chocolate introduces the Krackel bar
    The Krackel bar, similar to the Nestle Crunch bar, is an iconic; yet sometimes forgotten piece of history. The candy bar consists of milk chocolate and crisped rice. introduced in 1938 by the Hershey company, and in 1939 peanuts were added. Then again in 1941 they were removed. The candy ceased production at a later date and became exclusive to the Hershey Miniature series. The candy has been put back into production again since today.

    Martin Guitar was established in 1833, but a huge part of their history was during the great depression. Martin named its first 14-fret, 000-shape guitar the Orchestra Model (OM). Martin applied this term to all 14-fret instruments in its catalogs by the mid- to late-1930s. These guitars are extremely hard to find, and extremely expensive.

    Surprisingly enough, in 1931 the NFL only had 10 teams. The first playoff game was played in Chicago during the winter in 1932. The league was still pretty new by this time, so everything was just getting established; but continued to grow with major implements like new teams.

    When the 1930s began, basketball was only 39 years old. College basketball dominated the scene, while professional teams were struggling with Depression-era financial concerns. The 1930s were the lean years of basketball. Basketball went through many changes during the 1930s with new organizations, rules and innovations in game play. Since then, the sport has grown drastically with a national league and dozens of teams.
