    Ancient Greek/Athenian Literature

    Ancient Greek/Athenian Literature
I chose this because if we never found links to this, we would be no where in the literary world. These writers and philosophers gave us what we need to be a thriving, intelligent society. These men and women are the reason that I'm able to say all of this now! We would never have an intelligent way to communicate with everyone around us.

Christopher Columbus Discovering "The New World"

Christopher Columbus Discovering "The New World"
Without Christopher Columbus finding the "New World", we probably wouldn't be here today. He set sail through disease, hunger, mutiny, and bad seas, just for the sake of discovery. He found what would become a thriving country, in my opinion, the best in the world. Except Christopher Columbus was like King Midas, but everything he touched turned into a slave....
  • British Colonization in North America

    British Colonization in North America
In 1585, the British started colonizing in North America. This was the start of something that would turn out to be monumental. These men and women are the backbone of American History!
  • The American Revolutionary War

    The American Revolutionary War
After many more British started colonizing in America, King George III was infuriated that the new "Americans" were disowning their king and country. They refused to pay his taxes, and they refused to be called "British" anymore. Probably the most important war in American history became of it, The American Revolutionary War. After we won this war, we won our right to be free people of America.
  • The Creation of The Declaration of Independence

The Creation of The Declaration of Independence
By the time the Declaration of Independence was adopted in July 1776, the Thirteen Colonies and Great Britain had been at war for more than a year. The war had pushed the British government deep into debt, and so Parliament enacted a series of measures to increase tax revenue from the colonies. So, 5 men sat down and wrote different ideas of freedom which would later be called "The Declaration of Independence." This is the most important piece of writing in American history, in my mind.
  • The American Civil War

    The American Civil War
Americans had finally settled down from the great dispute with Britain, but things were a'brewing on their own shores, little dId they know. Basically, the South was for slavery and a strong farming industry, while the North wanted equality, but focused more on industry and trade. The South tried to secede, but the North didn't want them to. A war broke out, and the North won. Slavery was abolished, and the relationship between the North & South was never the same again....
  • The JFK Assassination

    The JFK Assassination
I chose this as an important part of American history because JFK was our fourth president to be shot while in office. This was a very real tragedy in America. It showed that threats didn't have to be foreign to be severe.
  • Americans Landing On The Moon

    Americans Landing On The Moon
I chose this as well because this showed that Americans can achieve something great, and it showed that we weren't intimidated by the Russians. I think this is one of America's greatest achievements.
  • 9/11

    9/11
I chose this because I believe that this is America's greatest tragedy. Hundreds of thousands of innocent people died at the hands of domestic terrorists. This is also the reason for the War on Terror, our most recent war.
  • The War On Terror

    The War On Terror
The War on Terror is our most recent war, focusing on the middle east. This was started by the 9/11 terrorist attacks on American soil. Osama Bin Laden, the leader of the Al Qaida terrorism group was killed by the Navy Seals in May of 2011, which was a win for Americans as a whole.
