The main outbreaks of the rebellion occurred in Catalonia and Asturias, the region where the most serious events took place.

    A new government begins with 5 cedistas ministers and Gil Robles as minister of war, the radical-cedista government continued with its rectification policy. Finally, on December 15 and 31, two governments were formed by Manuel Portela Valladores with the commitment of Alcalá Zamora to dissolve the courts and call elections.

    On February 16 and 23, 1936, the third and last general elections of the Second Spanish Republic were held in Spain. The elections gave victory to the left-wing coalition called the Popular Front.
    After the elections, Manuel Azaña was named President of the Republic.

    On July 12, an assault guard officer, Lieutenant Castillo, was assassinated by right-wing extremists. The answer came the following morning with the murder of José Calvo Sotelo by a group of members of the security forces. The confrontation was inevitable.
