    The Founders
the founders of the salvation army were William booth and his wife Catherine. In 1865 William Booth was invited to hold a series of evangelistic meetings in the East End of London. He set up a tent in a Quaker graveyard, and his services became an instant success. This proved to be the end of his wanderings as an independent traveling evangelist. International Heath Services
For almost as long as The Salvation Army has existed, it has operated hospitals and clinics in some of the most needy areas of the world. That remains true today. The Salvation Army’s medical services are most effective, influential and sustainable when they link to health-related community development, which gives local people – Salvationists and others – the opportunity to participate.
