    Today Band Aids are a household item. They're in all first aid packages and likely to be mostly anywhere you go. They're adhesive bandages that help to cover up and heal wounds invented by Earle and Josephine Dickson. Before this people would have to wrap gauze around their wound and tape it up but due to this invention it was an ease.

    Bee's Knees- An extraordinary person, thing or idea
    Big Cheese- an important or influential person
    Cat's Meow- similar to bee's knees, the best or greatest
    Hard Boiled- a tough guy
    Whoopee- having a good time

    During the 1920's popular womens fashion choices were: low waisted dresses as worn by flappers, bobbed hairstyles or short cut hair, cloche hats which were bell shaped hats for women and brightly colored clothes. As for men they wore lots of suits, tuxedos, fedoras, black dress shoes, silk shirts and suspenders.

    Georgia o'Keefe was an american artist born on November 15, 1887. She's best known for her paintings of large flowers, skyscrapers and landscapes. She's been recognized as "the mother of American modernism". In the 20's paintings of hers that were popular were Black Iris and Oriental Poppies.

    Babe Ruth was a very well known sports figure in the 1920's. If you mentioned him most people would know who you were talking about so he was pretty much a household name. He got famous for breaking many records during his time. He was a slugger and hit a lot of homeruns.

    Baby Ruth Candy Bars Invented
    By 1921 baseball was very popular and Babe Ruth was a household name. He had just previously shattered the recent record for most home runs. In Chicago a candy company named Curtiss Candy Company wasn't doing well and saw the opportunity to cash in on Babe's success resulting in the creation of the chocolate, peanut, caramel and nougat candy bar, Baby Ruth. Later on Babe Ruth tried to sue the company but they claim it's named after Grover Cleveland's daughter but most people think of Babe Ruth.

    Bit-O-Honey is a honey flavored taffy with almond bits in it created by Schutter-Johnson Co. It was a new kind of candy bar and came with 6 pieces of the candy in each wrapper. The candy was made to last longer than other candy bars since it was made of taffy.

    F. Scott Fitzgerald is probably best known for his book The Great Gatsby published in 1925. In this book the main character Nick gets involved in some tough situations due to Gatsby. His other best known books are Tender is the Night and This Side of Paradise. He was a very successful writer in the 20's.

    Created by Philo Taylor Farnsworth a 21 year old inventor. These were superior to mechanical televisions and easier to use. All though they were better than the mechanical tv's they're nothing compared to tv's now. Back then they didn't even have remotes but they lead the way for modern tv's.

    Mickey Mouse's first cartoon was released in 1928 called Steamboat Willie. He was created by Walt Disney. He was inspired by Oswald an animated rabbit. Many years later he's still very popular and everyone knows the famous mouse.
