It starts off with how the world slowely went into caos and had multiple flashbacks with the old mans wife. -

while moving along the raod they come upon a bus filled with scavengers so they hide. one of the scavengers finds the boy and the old man shoots him so they get chased. -
pages 109-165
after being chased the old man ends up finding his childhood house and goes through memories. While the old man is doing that the young boy thinks that he sees a little boy and chases after him. -

After the little boy insodent the man and the boy end up finding an underground emergancy room and its filled with food. -
pages 249-287
while in the celler they hear a dog and a person talking outside, so the man gets all of the items together and they leave the next day. while going through a carnival place the old man gets shot by a person with an arrow. the man soon dies and the boy is alone. it turns out the little boy and the dog they heard was following them with a family, so the father askes if the boy would come with them and the boy said yes.
