The Beginning
The two protagonists are introduced a boy and his father they on are a road their objective is to get to the shore before winter they have a cart which carries their supplies. The world is a barren wasteland and everything is covered in ash and dust. They suffer from lack of food and the harsh cold. -
They encounter scavengers
Along the way they spot a truck in the woods with people in it they turn out to be cannibals. The boy and the father hide but when one of the cannibals walks over to use the bathroom they get spotted and the boy is taken hostage and the father shoots the cannibal then they run away from the cannibals but lost their cart in the process. Its getting colder and they are starving even more now. -
The Cellar
When looking for food they find a house which showed signs someone was living in it. They find a cellar door and open it to find mutilated humans that were kept as livestock to be eaten they sprint out of there and continue their journey where they find an orchard and a fresh water well to keep them fed. -
The Bomb shelter
With their food supply low they head into a house trying to find food. While exploring they notice a spot in the backyard that is suspicious they dig up a trap door to find a bomb shelter filled with canned goods and supplies they stay there a couple days in comfort then they continue on because they were sitting ducks the father gets sick and the boy spots a well hidden house and they stay there until he gets well. -
They Reach the Coast
Its cold and they are running out of food again they get to the coast and it is bleak and barren they walk along it and find a ship that has a flare gun, batteries and food they eat well for a while the boy gets sick and the father doesn't know if he'll make it. The boy ends up getting better. -
More bad luck
A thief tries to take their cart and they end up catching him the boy didn't like how the man treated him. They head south through a city on the coast and then the man is shot by an arrow. It struck him in the leg the wound is severe. -
The End
They travel inland to a pine forest where the man can't go on his wound and his respiratory illness are killing him. He ends up dying with the boy by his side. The Boy isn't left alone though a family had been following them and they took him in
