The Red Scare is a period where US citizens were worried by the threat and spread of communism. There were 2 different Red Scares one after the first World War and one after the second World War.

The HUAC (House Un-American Activities Committee) created a Blacklist. This contained a list of people who were thought to be communists. No one would hire people from this list, and it destroyed careers for many people
