  • Abraham Lincoln elected into office

    Abraham Lincoln elected into office
    Abraham Lincoln was elected on March 4, 1861 right before his election all of the south states seceded. Five months later the Civil war started.
  • Fort Sumter

    This was the start of the Civil war with the first battle taking place on July 21,1861 Bull Run.
  • loss of command

    general McClellan was released of supreme command. McClellan was put under command of the Potomac army. Ullysses S. Grant took command over the whole union army.
  • emancipation proclamation

    This law let all slaves go. even though the south did not respond it was an incentive to the North and the Slaves in the South.
  • Gettysburg

    The Gettysburg battle of 1863 was the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. In total there were 51,000 casualties 23,000 from the US and 28,000 from the Confederates. General George E. Meade commanded the US against Robert E. Lee.
  • Abraham Lincoln re-elected

    Abraham Lincoln was re-elected for his second term in Novemver 1864 and later in the year the Union started to pull away from the war.
  • Surrender

    At Appotamattox Court house General Lee. For the South surrenders, bringing an end to the Civil war.
  • Assasination

    five days after Lee surrenders to the Union John Wilkes Booth at Ford's theatre. An unsuccsefull attempt on the vice president Andrew Johnson was also planned by Booth.
