the introduction of characters- Socs likes to beat Greasers because the gap between rich and poor and the classes. The thought from them are different, as well. Pony is the youngest (14 years old) boy, his parents died in a car accident, and he lives with two of his brothers Darry and Sodapop, but he likes Sodapop more. -

The first time they meet scos
This chapter is talking about the three people Dally, Johnny and Ponyboy go to the cinema, Dally molests two girls, Cherry call him hoodlum, then Dally leave. Ponyboy talking with Cherry and her friend. They find that they could be friend rather than Dally. After few minutes, Dally come back and want to touch Cherry again but it is blocked by Johnny, Dally leave. -

Frankly, Cherry likes Dally who is cool, handsome just like her boyfriend, bob. Ponyboy and Cherry go to buy some popcorn, and Cherry ask him something about Johnny, he said, Johnny was hit terribly by socs, although his parents dislike that he was hit but they were never scared like this, Cherry tell him, not all socs is bad as them. Then they come back to the cinema. -

This chapter talks about what happened in the cinema, to lead into the other characters bob and his friend and Cherry, this part is also the first clash between socs and greasers. What is more, Ponyboy and Johnny meet Cherry Here. -

Then a car is driving to them, it was bob and his friend. They quarrel with the two socs, Cherry and her friend het into the car and leave. They are angry. Finally, Ponyboy come home, his big brother is angry and hit his face. Ponyboy run out of the house. Then he meet Johnny, he decide to run, but Johnny ask him to calm down and take a walk at the park. -

This part, Ponyboy and Johnny know more about Cherry and they have known each other, and the clash become more fierce, then Cherry and Marcia leave with bob. The point is Ponyboy is hit by his big brother Darry, he leave home and want to run, this event lead to the next Chapter. -

After the movie, Ponyboy and Johnny send Cherry and Marcia home, I talk with Cherry about the different between socs and greasers, she said that they have different view of value and greasers are more emotional and sophisticated. They walk in the park ; however, bob and three socs driving to them and reprove them, socs catch them and bob put Ponyboy’s head in to the water, when Ponyboy is almost die, Johnny take his knife and killed Bob by accident, he doesn’t mean it. They run and try to avoid the police, they find Dally to help them out of here, he is the only one who can handle this. -

Reason
In this chapter, their clash reach the climax that Bob almost kill Pony and Johnny kill Bob in order to save Pony, this is the turning point, which they have to escape, their lives is changed, so they find Dally to help them. As the leader, he help them, of course, tell them a church to hide. This is a hint for what will happen surround the church. -

Pony could remember that pome. The fifth day, when they are disgust of sausage, Dally visit them and take them to have a meal in DQ, they eat well. He also tell them Tim want greasers and socs fight in lot, and Cherry become a spy for us. -

At this Chapter, Johnny was terribly hurt is the main point and the turning point. Greasers cannot live without him, Dally cannot live without Johnny, they do not want Johnny become hardhearted. The other one is they, who are greasers, saved children, but the teacher do not believe that greasers would do such good thing, this is also stereotype, in people’s mind only socs would do such things, but the truth is greasers did that rather than socs. -

Darry, soda and Pony sit in the waiting room to wait the message of Dally and Johnny, then a great deal of reporter and police come, ask them some questions. Nurse doesn’t allow them to visit Johnny, because he is terrible now, two-bit and Pony get in and visit Johnny, in fact he terrible, Pony read gone with wind for him, he said he won’t walk again, Pony comforts him. He is extremely sad and terrified, he even thought about suicide, now he realize he has too many things uncompleted. Then a nurse said his mother come to see him, it is a bad news, he is not want to see his mother. -

Cherry and Pony’s talk is important because as they are talking, Pony find no all socs is bad and defiant, Cherry is the model, she is pure, kind and emotional. -

. Pony was hit, then they win, socs escaped. After that they get in to the car to hospital, Pony is worried about Johnny. When they arrive here, Johnny is almost die, Pony told him they won, he tell Pony to stay gold, then Johnny died, Pony is being crazy. -
Reason
The battle they won is for Johnny. And what Johnny said to Pony is important because he does not want his best friend being a hardhearted, cold-blooded man. He want Pony keep his heart pure being a good, kind, friendly man. To be a different one, avoid to be like other greasers, just being himself. -

When Pony come home is about six, the time is seven. He has a meal at home. Then, they talk about why his two brother really want to fight. After that, they go to the plot to get ready for the final battle. Then Tim Shepard and his greasers is come as well, they are a group, about 20. Socs have 22, and Randy is not come really. The rule is no weapon, the first ran is loser. -
Dally's sadness
Pony get downstairs with empty mind. He tell himself all the time that Johnny is not died. A driver who Pony meet in the street send him to his home, he is almost collapse. Dally cannot accept this truth, he get out and robe kiosk, police is chasing him, he run into the lot, police is right back of him and just shoot him. Dally is died, he is mean it. -

He want to die, he could always reach his target. Pony had been deep sleeping for 4 days because of the strike and head disease. Darry said Johnny left gone with the wind for him. -
Reason
At this part Dally was died, and he want that. This is because Johnny was died, Dally regard Johnny as his life, he cannot live without him, Johnny’s kindness, his pure heart makes Dally felt he and greasers is not as terrible as they thought, and Johnny need greasers, because he needs a family. They are a family. The book Johnny left to Pony is warn him to stay gold. -
The end
They go to court, the judge ask some questions about this situation, and ask about his study, does Pony want to live with his brothers, finally the said he is free. Pony hope he could return the old life, but it is unreal, his study mark drop sharply, and forget things very quick. His English teacher is worried about him, he said Pony’s English have failed. If he could write a good essay he could give him a C. School mates stay away from Pony, they fear of Pony. -
The end
After dinner, he is thinking about the essay, but he don’t know how to write it, and he quarrel with Darry, then he find a envelope from the book, it is Johnny left:” I think something is worth doing, I was proud of it, when you are a child you are as precious as a leaf, everything around is new, just like the sunrise, when you start get used of everything surrounded, the day is beginning. -
The end

At that night Pony decide to write an essay about greasers about them. The start is:” when I stepped out into the bright sunset from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home. -
Reason
This part shows the growth of Pony, he becomes more mature. And when Pony write his essay about them, the first sentence of that essay is same as the start of the book.
