Chapter I.Introduction
I left the theater and just thought of two things:Paul Newman and going home. There are three people in my family, two my brothers and I. I do not like Darrel, my oldest brother because I think he does not know me. I like Soda, the other old brother of mine.
The first part introduces the readers Ponyboy’s taste, family members and opinions about greasers and socs. This part is a short introduction about the story. -
I.First time being jumped
He got jumped by socs. My brothers Darrel,Soda and some other greasers came over and rescued him from hair cut, the socs got chased but escaped.
This is the first time that Ponyboy was jumped in this story. It showed the readers that the how fierce the conflict between greasers and socs is. And the readers can clearly understand why the story happened as that after they know what the environment was at that age. -
Chapter II.Drive in
I was waiting for Johnny to go to the cinema, and we met two socs girls, Cherry and Marcia, Dally molested them, but Cherry was annoyed him.I talked with Cherry and found that we had some same topics. We talked about learning, hobbies, including SOCS and greasers.And then we came back to the cinema. -
Chapter III.Guarrel
After seeing film,we had a walk from the theatre and met Cherry’s boyfriend, the socs. Cherry went with them and Johnny and I had a talk. Then I went home. Derry was angry of my lateness to go home and he hit me in chaos. I went away from my home to Johnny.
This part is to describe the relation of Ponyboy and Johnny and Cherry and Marcia. And this part is the main story’s beginning, the cause of the main story. -
Chapter IV:In the park
Johnny and me run to the park and encounter Bob and some other socs, I got his head dunked in a fountain and almost drowns untill Johnny stabs Bob to death. Then Johnny and me went to Dally after the murder, he give then money, clothes, and a loaded heater. We then go to the railroad to take a boxcar away. The boys woke up in the morning and go to Jay Mountain. -
Chapter V.The life in the church
When I waked up, I found that Johnny appeared. I found his note that he had gone to buy some supplies. He came back with some food and a book named Gone with the Wind, which I want to read for a long time. And he gave me a new haircut which I did not like to not be known. Finally I accepted against my will.
This part is the most important mental part and the poetry describes the meaning of the story by words. -
V.Dally's visiting
Dally came to visit us and took us to eat DQ. He told us that greasers and socs would have a final fight in a lot.
This part begins to say the final fight of greasers and socs and tell us that Cherry started to help greasers. And it is the cause of the fire of the churh. -
Chapter VI:Sad Jhonny
Cherry thought that all the troubles were caused by him, and he would prove that Johnny was justifiable defense instead of intentional injury. Johnny said that he would confess his crime, Johnny asked Dally weather his parents asked him, but the answer was absolutely not, Johnny was very sad. We were going to come back; Dally did not want Johnny to have a prison life. -
Chapter VI:Burning church
The church was burning, Johnny, and I jumped out the car to see what happened, and we went back to the church, because we thought that our cigarette cause the fire, Johnny and I go in to rescue some children trapped inside and Dally came to rescue too. All of us were injured, Jerry said that we were the heroes; we said that we were greasers, but he did not mind I was a greaser. And then I saw Darry and Soda, Darry apologized to me, he was afraid of losing me, I finally could go home. -
Chapter VII: In the hospital
He hated that. And he told me that Bob was a good man. Greasers could not win. Randy was a good man and I believe that if he meet the same condition like what I have met, he will also do what I had done. -
Chapter VII: In the hospital
We waited for Dally and Johnny and some reporters and policemen came to ask our questions. The doctor told us Dally was okay but Johnny was in danger. I was sad to hear that because he is my best friend. Next day, Two-bit and Steve came to visit and tell me that we became heroes and they might send me to the orphanage but I did not want. I had a nightmare at night. Randy came my home and had a talk with me. He said that he would not come to the final fight between greasers and socs. -
Chapter VIII:Visiting
The nurse did not want us to see Johnny, because he was in dangerous. We came in and see Johnny,he thought that he might not walk anymore, I said he would be fine. He was sad, and he used to want to suicide, but he just knew there were a lot of thing that need to do. A nurse said that his mother come to visit him, but he did not want to see his mother, because his mother would scold him. -
Chapter VIII:Angry Dally
Dally asked 2-bit for his flick knife, and said that he must win the soc in tonight's fight to revenge for Johnny. I hide my condition, because I had to go to that fight, although I did not want to go fight. I saw cherry in soc's car, she asked how Johnny was, but she would not saw him, because he killed Bob. Cherry said the sunset in west direct was also very beautiful . -
Chapter IX:Stay gold
We talked about why two my brothers like fighting when we had the dinner and then went to the lot to end the fight with the socs. We greasers were 20 men fought with 22 men of socs without weapons. Randy did not come as what he had told me. We won. We went to the hospital to visit and tell Johnny the news but he said that fight had no good and asked me to stay gold. Johnny was dead. I was almost mad.

Chapter X: Dally's death
I went downstairs, and it was empty in my mind, I told myself that Johnny was not dead, I met a driver send me to home, I was almost corrupted, and Dally also could not bear this attack, he went out and robbed a market, the police chased him. He run to the lot, the police killed him. Dally was dead too, he was deliberate, he wanted to die, he always could achieve his goal. I slept 4 days because of cerebral concussion and attack. When I woke up, Darry told me that Johnny left me the <PURE＞ -
Chapter XI:Laying in the bed
Then, I went on lying on the bad thinking about Bob for a week. Randy came to tell me that he was about to go to the court and talk with me about the accident that Bob was killed by Johnny. The death of Johnny made me mad and I kept saying that it was me who killed Bob, not Johnny. And I kept my mind that Johnny was still alive although I knew that was just console. Randy went out because of my mad.

Chapter XII:In the court
I went to court with a few Socs and Greasers; the judge asked us some question about this thing and asked me weather I like to live with my brothers. Finally the judge said that I was not guity. After the court-date, I thought my life would be better than before, by facts were opposed to wishes. My life has been getting worse and worse, I was failing classes, and always forget things. Chapter xII: Game over
I quarreled with Darry, and found a note that Johnny wrote to him in his copy of <Gone With the Wind>, telling me that it was worth dying to save those kids and inspiring me for my English assignment. I decided to write about the events of the past weeks to inform others about the life of Greasers. He begins his story:” when I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house; I had only two things on my mind... Paul Newman and a ride home.”
