Allie and Noah talked about what they had done with their lives so far. They discussed how their lives had changed in the past 14 years and how Noah had writen Allie, but Allie never found out. Noah and Allie sat on the porch, thinking to themselves about how their lives would be different if they were still together. Allie thought about how great Noah was, but also about how sweet Lon was. Allie soon got up and decided to leave and agreed to Noah that she would come back the next day. At that same time, Lon had called the hotel where Allie checked in at and got no answer. Allie got up ran arrands, then got ready for Noah's. When she left for noah's, the man at the front desk of the hotel told her she had four missed calls from Lon who souned worried about her. She started to wonder if he found out about her and Noah, but soon decided to call him when she got back that night, and left. Noah got up and did his usual routine; kayaking. When Allie arrived, Noah took her out on the lake in his kayak to a spot she hadn't been to before. Pages 84-101 Total: 101 pages -

Noah took Allie to a spot on the lake where there were swans everywhere. On their way back to the dock, the storm had come in and it started pouring rain. When they finally got home, they sat by the fire. That night, they caught up on everything they missed in the past 15 years. That same day, Lon got suspicions about where Allie had really gone and came to the conclusion that she was with Noah, so he set off for New Bern. Page 101-130 Total: 130 pages -

Noah and Allie woke to the sound of nocking at the door. When Noah answered it to find Anne, Allie's mother, he was completely shocked. She had come to New Bern to warn Allie that Lon was on his way there. Before left, Anne handed her daughter the letters Noah had writen her. Neither one of them could stand Allie leaving. When Allie got to the Inn, she saw Lon's car. That's when the story goes to the future. Allie has Alzheimer's and doesn't remember her love, Noah. Pages 130-169 Total: 169 -

Noah reads the story of their life together to Allie. He hopes to bring back her memory, but it doesn't work too often. One night, she remembered him, but her memory faded and she soon forgot everything again. A few days later, Noah had a stroke. After being in the hospital for a while, he came back to the nursing home. He snuck into Allie's room, where she slept, and sat with her for their 59th anniversary.
