  • The North Pole Was Reached

    On April 6, 1909, Robert Peary and Matthew Henson reached what they thought to be the North Pole.
  • Mexican Revolution

    The Mexican Revolution started and there were many groups that were led by Francisco Madero, Pascual Orozco, Pancho Villa and Emiliano Zapata and it ended a dictatorship in Mexico.
  • Italian-Turkish War

    On September 29, 1911, the Italian-Turkish War started and was between Italy and the Ottoman Empire, or Turkey.
  • The Titanic Sunk

    The "Unsinkable" Titanic sunk at 2:20 A.M. in the North Atlantic Ocean about 400 miles south of Newfoundland, Canada. Over 1,500 people died and there weren't enough life boats.
  • 17th Amendment Confirmed

    The 17th Amendment (allowing voters to cast direct votes for U.S. senators) was passed and Woodrow Wilson was president during the time.
  • Archduke Franz Ferdinand is Assassinated

    Archduke Franz Ferdinand, nephew of Emperor Franz Josef and his wife were assassinated by the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

  • The Department of the Interior

  • U.S. Liner Housatonic

    On February 3, the U.S. Liner Housatonic is sunken by a German submarine.
  • The Second Battle of Mame

    On August 6, the Second Battle of Marne ended, smarking the start of the end of World War I.
  • The Volstead Act

    This law was started by the House to implement the prohibition amendment by agreeing with banning alcoholic beverages and their production and distribution.
  • First Commercial Radio Station

    On November 2, the first commercial radio station KDKA had its first radio commercial that aired the presidential election for that year.
