Navajo and Apache Wars

Jan 1, 1849

Col. Carson kills or relocate many Apaches to reservation in 1862 . clashes drag on until Geronimo surrenders in 1866. Before Navajo can even surrender in 1863, Carson attacked killing lives and destroying homelands.

Sand Creek Massacre

Nov 29, 1864

A group of whites kills over 200 Indians; Colorado Militia attacked and destroyed a village of Cheyenne Indians.

Red Cloud's War

Jan 1, 1866

Conflict between Lakota and U.S for control of the Bozeman Trail of the Powder River Country.200 killed; It ended with the Fort Laramie Treaty in 1868, in which the United States agreed to abandon the forts.

Red River War

Aug 30, 1874

Southern plains Indians relocated to Oklahoma Indian Territory under the 1867 Treaty of Mediicin Lodge. After the buffalo hunters destroyed the Indians supply of food , Comanche warriors pursuit to grazing buffalo areas in Texas panhandle to kill the hunters but Sherman and Sheridan deafeated them and open panhandle to cattle.ranching.

The Battle of Wounded Knee

Ghost Dance raised fears of Sioux uprising; Sitting Bull killed in the attempt of arrest.His followers surrendered and camped at Wounded Knee where shots are fired. some 200 Sioux died.

The Battle of Little Big Horn

U.S. tries to buy gold-rich Black Hills from Sioux bu fail. Custer's 7th Cavlary was sent to round up Sioux but meets enemy forces defeated. Custer's Lsst Stand perish along with some 200 men.
