    (NOW) is an american feminist organization founded in 1966. the organization consist of 550 chapters in all 50 U.S states and Washington D.C.
  • Lesbian Rights

    In 1969, Ivy Bottini, who was openly lesbian, designed the logo for NOW, which is still in use today. The first time lesbians concerns were introduced into NOW also occurred in 1969, when Bottini, who was the president of the New York chapter (NOW) held a public formed titled "Is lesbianism a feminist issue?" However, NOW president Betty Friden was against the lesbian participation movement.
  • Activism

    NOW also helped woman get equel access to public places and area's. for example the Oak Room held men- only lunches on weekday's when Friedan and other members of NOW staged a protest. As well as woman were not allowed in McSorely's Old Ale House's until August 10, 1970, after NOW attorneys, Faith Seinberg and Karen Decrow filed a discrimination case agaisnt the bar in district court and won.
  • Abortion

    Abortion being individual woman's choice has come into the forefront since the supreme court case of Roe V. Wade in 1973. The desicion of the court was that it ulimately was the woman's choice in reproduction.
  • Critism

    NOW has begun critisized by various pro- life, conservative, and fathers rights groups. during the 1990's NOW was critisized for having double standard when it refused to support Paula Jones in her sexual harrasment suit against former democrat Bill Clinton, while calling for the resignation packwood who was accuse of simular assult by 10 woman.
