    Daniel James Morcombe was born to his loving parents Denise and Bruce Morcombe, along with his twin brother Bradley. Daniel also had an older brother, Dean Morcombe. Denise and Bruce would have thought that they were and ordinary family whose purpose in life would be to educate their children and to make sure they were happy and healthy. They would have also imagined that their sons would get married and have children in the future making them grand-parents.

    Daniel was a 13 year old boy who was abducted by Brett Cowan from Nambour Connection Road, Woombye, Queensland. Daniel was waiting for a bus at an unofficial overpass. The bus that he had to catch broke down a few kilometres from where he was. Daniel was just on his way to the shopping centre to go get a haircut and Christmas presents for his family. This was the day that everything changed for the Morcombe family.

    The Morcombe's were Christians and and called into the church on the Sunday night Daniel first went missing.

    The Daniel Morcombe Foundation was established by Bruce and Denise Morcombe in 2005. It was created so that Daniel had lasting legacy to Daniel. The Morcombe's purpose when they created the foundation was to help and to educate children by raising awareness about their safety, protecting themselves and to have knowledge how to prevent harm.

    The Morcombe's made a concious decision to get justice for Daniel. This became their new purpose in life. The morcombe's decided to have a Day for Daniel every year. It is a National Day to raise awareness of child safety, protection and harm prevention and keeping children safe. It also educates parents and kids about stranger danger. Day for Daniel has been celebrated every November 30th since 2005.

    In 2008 there was an extremely large reward available for anyone with truthful information on Daniel's disappearance.
  • Remains are Found

    Remains are Found
    Daniel's remains were found at the Glass House Mountains in Queensland. His remains were found around 7 years after he went missing. Throughout the investigation seventeen bones had been located and confirmed to be Daniel's. Along with the bones a pair of shoes, underpants and a belt were also found. These items were similar to the ones he had on when he disappeared.
  • Morcombe's Purpose

    Densie Morcombe spoke to Brett Cowan saying what her purpose in life was now Daniel was gone. "I will continue my work with the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, teaching children to be aware of people like you."
    Bruce Morcombe's purpose in life is to “Try and help other people cope with their lives and give them some direction”.
  • Purpose after the remains are found

    When his remains were found the Morcombe's were relieved yet extremley upset. They had always hoped that their boy would come back home to them alive. Now the Morcombe's purpose is to get justice by finding the man that had kidnapped and killed Daniel.

    Daniel's funeral was held at Siena Catholic College exactly nine years after Daniel went missing. Over 2000 people went to his funeral and paid respects to his loving family.

    In 2013 Denise and Bruce Morcombe drove 20,000 kilometres, visiting every State and Territory in Australia promoting the Daniel Morcombe Child Safety Curriculum, with the aim to having it adopted nationally.

    Brett Peter Cowan was found guilty for the murder of Daniel Morcombe.

    Cowan was sentenced to life imprisonment with a possible parole after 20 years.

    Daniel's parents are still wanting to do more for everyone in the Australian community. They want to make sure that everyone is aware about safety, so Denise and Bruce have decided that in 2015 they will create a hand signal which will be a universal sign alerting that a person is in need of help. The Morcombe's purpose in life now is to continue to get justice for Daniel and to continue to protect their other 2 sons and kids all across Australia.

    The Morcombe family has gone through a lot of days were they might has lost all hope and faith but, they kept going on. Even with the horrible outcome that Daniel was murdered they decided that his wonderful legacy should be left behind. The family have created a whole foundation that educates children on safety and protection.

    They are doing all of this while creating a whole new purpose in life. That purpose is to keep looking after their sons and to continue on with their life while still remembering Daniel and his legacy that he left behind.
