The Mayflower's Voyage

  • Too many people and too much wind

Too many people and too much wind
This ship has set sail and there are people upon people on the mayflower. Also, the ship is being blown offcourse everywhere. "these troubles being blown over, and now all being compact together." People were getting sick from the crowdness and being blown around on the ship."Many were afflicted with seasickness." Bradford knew he should be happy becuase he was not sick like the rest of the crew.
  • The Bully

    The Bully
There was a man on the ship that kept harassing the sick people and making them feel worse. he was waiting untill they died so he could throw them overboard. "and did not tell them that he hoped to help to cast half of them overboard before their journey's end." But it was he who died first from an unknown cause which then was thrown overboard.
  • Cracked Beam

    Cracked Beam
During a bad storm, the ships main beam cracked and this caused a big problem. "they entered a serious consultation with the master and other officers of the ship," they were already halfway to plymouth and it would be silly to turn back. They ended up fixing the beam and putting a large iron screw into it to keep it sturdy. this showed bradford that anything was possible and to not panick because you can fix everything.
  • Knocked off course

    Knocked off course
During the second half of the voyage, the mayflower was hit with many storms forcing them to take their masts down and let the water take them. Originally they were heading for virginia but they landed in Cape Cod. They tried to resail to virginia but got caught in rocks and wind so they turned around. "The next day they got into the Cape Harbor where they rid in safety." Bradford could realize that you should make do with what you have and be happy you made it safe, since the journey was long.
  • A New Beginning

    A New Beginning
Landing in Cape Cod for goof, the pilgrams had to start a new life in America. The pilgrams accessed the land they came too and started building homes right away. "no houses or much less towns to repair to, to seek for succor." Bradford knew they had to start a colony and quick becuase people were ill. Bradford was thankfull that god gave him the land and he could start a new life. He wanted to pass on to be thankfull for what you have because some people dont have anything.
  • Dropping like flies

    Dropping like flies
During the settlement, the harsh winter hit Cape Cod and everyone was sick. "that of 100 and odd persons, scarce fifty remained." five or six people were healthy and gathered wood, fed the sick, and toom care of the colony. The pilgrams havent built yet becuase of the harsh weather so they were living on the land but with supplies from their boat. Bradford recorded this to show thankfulness towards god that he was still alive and healthy.
