Ylla
Ylla, a Martian woman, is trapped in a marriage with a man whom she doesnt have romantic feelings with. She dreams of the incoming astronauts through telepathy and evidently falls for one. Her husband becomes jealous and he kills the incoming astronauts when they arrive. -
The Summer Night
Martians throughout Mars were all having the thoughts of these astronauts just as Ylla was. As they approach, the Martians begin to adopt American Culture such as singing their songs and playing them. -
The Earth Men
When the Earth Men arrive at Mars from Earth, they tell Martians that they came from Earth. Martians that believe that this is an impossibllity, place the Earth Men in an insane asylum because other martians have claimed the same things. Mr. Xxx is amazed at how strong their "telepathy" is and kills them because they are incurable. He then kills himself because the Earth rocket ship doesnt dissappear after the crew is dead. -
The Taxpayer
A man claims that since he is a taxpayer, he should be allowed to board the next ship to Mars. He wants to go to Mars because there is an impending nuclear war on Earth. He is not granted access and he is taken away by police. -
The Third Expedition
The third expedition of men arrive at Mars and are caustious. They soon realize that they see their old dead famiily members and they let down their gaurd and they split up to be with their families The Earth Men are surprised yet happy at the same time to finally be back with their families. In the middle of the night, the Martians killed the Earth Men and had a large funeral for them. -
- And the Moon be Still as Bright
The Foruth Expedition arrives on Mars, and collects firewood to brave against the cold Martian night. All the Martians have died from chickenpox. Spender kills a man by throwing him in a canal becasue he was breaking wine-bottles into it. He then gets angry at the men because they "destroy beatiful things" referring to Earth. He leaves the crew to explore Martian ruins. -
The Settlers
Spender goes on a walk and upon returning, he kills a lot of the Earth Men. He doesnt want the Earth Men to ruin Mars, like they have ruined Earth. He then gets sick and leaves. Lster the Captain comes and talks to him. Spender tells the captain why he killed the Earth Men. The captain goes back to the remaining Earth men, and they shoot Spender, killing him. -
The Green Morning
Mars begins to transform into another Earth, with small cities and towns. To increase oxygen levels, a bunch of trees are planted in the red plains, and because of something in the soil, the trees grow into a large forest in one night. -
The Locusts
There was a swift colonization on Mars, and rockets and settlers quickly spread across Mars. -
Night Meeting
Tomas comes face to face with a Martian, and they are not from the same time so they both see different relatities. They also dont think that the other one exists. -
The Shore
Colonization on Mars continued with pioneer colonizers and New Yorkers. -
The Fire Balloons
Priests came from Earth and built a church on Mars. They offered relgion to the Martians and the Martians peacefully denied. They also left their physical bodies and materialized as blue flames in crystal spheres. -
Interim
A town was built on Mars to resemble an American town as if it had been swept up and placed on Mars. -
The Musicians
Young Earth kids play with Martian debris before the Firemen, or clean up crew, come and remove all the junk. -
The Wilderness
Two women make their way to Mars to meet with their husbands, comparing their situations to that of an American pioneer woman. -
The Naming of Names
More rapid colonization happens on Mars, and the physical landmarks are named after earlier explorers. -
Usher 2
Two men who had their precious collections of books and movies confiscated by the government, build a large haunted mansion on Mars. They then murder Moral Climate Moniters by ways of old works such as Edgar Allen Poe. -
The Old Ones
The elders come to Mars because its safe and they want to be with their families. -
The Martian
LaFarge and Anna go to bed one night, and they think that their dead son Tom is outside. They wake up and they believe that their son has come back from the dead. They go to a market, and the mysterious son runs away. It turns out that the son was a Martian that was able to shape-shift into the thoughts and loved ones of anyone it was around. The Martian dies in the end. -
The Luggage Store
The Priest and the Luggage guy are talking about the imminent war on Earth and the discuss about whether or not they think the colonist will flee Mars and return to be with their loved ones on Earth. -
The Off Season
Sam Parkhill has opened a hot dog stand and a Martian comes to tell him something, and he shoots the Martian. He flees in fear the Martians will come get him. He shoots more Martains and eventually the Martians catch him. Instead of being mad, they give him ownership to half of Mars. He watches explosions on Earth to end the chronicle. -
The Watchers
The war started on Earth, and eveyone on Mars leaves to return to Earth to be with their loved ones. -
The Silent Towns
Walter Gripp is the last man on Mars. Hes lonely so he desperately tries to find someone else on Mars. He hears a phone ring, and the person on the line hangs up. This causes him to call all the phone numbers in the telephone book, until a woman picks up on the other end. He wants a companion so he meets up with the woman, and she isnt anything that he expected. He ditches her adn decides that he will live happily ever after by himself. -
The Long Years
Everyone leaves Mars and only one family remains, the hathaways. Twenty years later, Captain Wilder returns to Mars on a rocket ship. Hathaway dies out of excitement because he didnt expect to see people. It turns out that his family are actually robots that he built to take their place when they all died. -
There Will Come Soft Rains
A house in Allendale, California is surrounded by rubble and is fuly automated by robots. The chronicle goes through the lives of each robot during the day until 10 o'clock. A tree falls on the house and catches fire, and the house could not save itself and it burns down. -
The Million-Year Picnic
Earth men travel to Mars during the war, on a ship the government would have used to get to Mars. When they get to Mars, a family travels up the canal and their rocket ship blows up behind them. This was staged because the father never wants to go back to Earth. No body lives on Mars, and Earth is severly damaged and dead. He gives a whole town to his children and then promises to go see a Martian. They walk down to the canal and look at their reflection in the water and call themselves Martians
