This helps prove this is the lost generation because this shows the extreme desperation that the country was in.     This is a cultural icon that represents women that work in factories while the country is at war, and the men are away. The term "Rosie" is used as a symbol for women who work so hard as assembly line workers to help do their part during the war. Woodrow Wilson passed the suffrage amendment as a result of his enthusiastic wife and daughters, showing now that he endorsed women’s suffrage. Wilson said that America could not have fought in the war if it was not for the services of the women. This was significant to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness because women were starting to become respected in the United States for everything they have done during war.

    Alcohol was the blame of a lot of the crime during this time period. Women would complain about men using up their entire paycheck on alcohol. This was against everything American citizens used to know, therefore starting a revolution.

The New Woman had an increase of presence in public, some became female athletes and glamourous performers, and other became "working girls."     This states, “Men and women shall have equal rights throughout the United States and every place subject to its jurisdiction.” This is significant to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness because it shows that after all the fighting for individuality,women finally got the equal rights they were looking for. Although this amendment was not ratified, it was a step in the right direction for women's rights.

This is significant to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness because as women became the most popular athletes of the 20s, they had successfully made men notice them and their accomplishments as individuals.

    The development ofsound recordings transformed motion pictures into talking pictures. This had the film industry roaring. Some women had the oppurtunity to become glamourous movie stars. This is significant to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness because these movie stars gave women a role model, proving thatthere are women who have individuality and can make a living for themselves.
