The first day
The student's adviser, Daisy Bates, made arrangements to have all nine students get driven to the school in two police cars. Only eight of them got the message and Elizabeth Eckford did not. The President takes charge
President Eisenhower had armed soldiers with machine gun mounts and jeeps, escort the nine students to school. The students were under military protection from viscious people who followed them.
