    Canada declares war on Germany
    On September 10, 1939 Canada, being a colony of Britain, has declared war on Germany for thier offenses against humanity, and for disobeying the laws the treaty of Versailles enacted upon Germay.
  • Beginning of Training

    Beginning of Training
    After a timely proccess of signing up, on thanksgiving weekend Wally was accepted for air force training. He left immedietly spending little time to say goodbye to his family.
  • First Solo flight

    First Solo flight
    After 4 months of traiing Wally finally got to perform a solo flight. It was a new kind of feeling for Wally to be flying in the clouds with no one in control of the plae but himself.
  • Wally goes to war.

    The trip to England was one of wally's more dangerous experiences. It took about a 3 weeks to sail from Halifax to england and he was constantly in danger of German submarines.
  • First Dog fight

    Wally was sent on a "rodeo" to scout any arms manufacturers, He went out with 24 other fighter planes. They were ambushed while flying over occupied France,and he was shot down. Wally managed to parachute safely to ground but was captured almost immedietly.

    Wally has been in a POW camp for just over a year when the Gestapo "Nazi secret police" brought a prisoner in named Rodger. Rodger had big plans to dig 3 tunnels for around 250 prisoners to escape out of.
  • Tom gets discovered.

    Tom gets discovered.
    A german soldier was testing the ground for tunnels when he accidently dropped it on thecorner of Tom's cement trapped door, and chipped the corer off. The germans blew up the tunnel, and filled it back in.

    The German soldiers suspected another tunnel being dug. They picked out some prisoners that would most likely be behind it, and sent them to aother camp 5 miles down the road. Wally was part of the group transferred Whe Wally found out his heart sunk nto his chest, he worked on those tunnels for a year, and now won't get to see it succeed

    The RAF's special investigations branch went to work searching for the Gestapo officers and anyone else involved in the shooting of the 50 escaped prisoners.

    Shortly after being transferred to Stalag Luft III Wally heard news floating around the camp that 76 prisoners at Stalag Luft I had escaped through a tunnel. Not even close to the 250 they hoped to sneak out but still wally felt proud that he helped free people. Unfortunetly 50 of the prisoners were executed as an example to other prisoners.

    News was out that Russia had mobalized and was marching on Berlin. The prisoners at Stalag Luft III thought that the germans would just drop thier stuff and leave. But instead the Germans took the prisoners with them. They had to walk a week in the middle of a German winter.

    The Russian red army arrives in jeeps, armoured cars, and huge tank. ONe tank rolled over the fence destroying it. However the RAF prisoners are not let go. There were anti-communist Russians who fought for the Nazi's in American Hands, it took weekd to negotiate but the Russians traded the prisoners for the russians.

    Wally had been liberated, and he instantly telegramed his wife Betty, and he was moved to England, then shipped back acroos to Canada where his Family waited for him in Halifax. It was there where Wally had the chance to meet the families of some of the Canadias who were also taken prisoner and liberated.
  • First son

    First son
    Wally, and Betty had thier first son who they named Brian, and two days later wally got some surprisig news. Wally was awarded with the Order of the British Empire for his contribution to the tunneling efforts i the POW camps in Germany.
