    Industry vs Inferiority
    In Ariana's first grade class a spelling bee is taking place. Ariana spends a good amount of her time studying for the competition so she can achieve first place. This is an example of Erikson's Industry vs Inferiority. This stage in life where one becomes self aware. Achieving efforts results in self confidence. Unachieved efforts result in inferiority.
  • Intimacy vs Isolation

    Intimacy vs Isolation
    Ariana and her fiance have their wedding! They decide they want to spend the rest of their lives with each other through thick and thin. This is Erikson's intimacy vs isolation stage. In this stage, the young adult strives to find their other half due to the fear of being alone. On the flip side, one may choose to be alone.
  • Generativity vs Stagnation

    Generativity vs Stagnation
    Ariana is now a licensed psychiatrist deep in her career. She has always seen patients and helped them with their problems but wants to do more. She decides to found a program for the young adults struggling with mental illness in the community. This is an example of Erikson's gerativity vs stagnation stage of life. In this stage, the person feels as though they should achieve something or leave behind a legacy. Stagnation is when one fails at the generativity stage.
