    1942, Anne, her family, the Van Pels Family and a dentist named Fritz Pffrefer go into hiding in fear of being sent to concentration camp. They stay in the Annex of her father, Otto Frank’s workplace. Their quarters were kept secret by a movable bookshelf that was in front of the entrance of the Annex.

    Anne and her family are kept inside the Annex this whole time. During this time, she develops feelings for Peter Van Pels, the son of the Van Pels. She also grows angry and agitated that she cannot even take a simple walk outside. She and the rest of the company killed time by eating, sleeping, reading and studying.

    The Frank’s hiding place was found by the Nazi Police on the 4th of August, 1944. All of their valuables were stolen, including Anne's diary.
  • Anne is taken to Westerbork

    Anne and the rest of the Annex company are taken to Westerbork Transit camp (Netherlands), where Holocaust victims were processed. Later, she is sent to Auschwitz II (a women's concentration camp).
  • Anne and Margot are transferred

    Anne and her older sister Margot are taken to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp where they are separated from their family and the others, where the sisters work relentlessly breaking up old batteries.

    The sisters’ mother, Edith Frank, witnessed her daughters being taken away from her camp in Auschwitz. She dies of exhaustion on this date.
